A Premier League player has reportedly been arrested in London on suspicion of rape. A 29-year-old English Premier League footballer was arrested in north London last June on suspicion of rape following an alleged assault.
The national player, in his late 20s, cannot be named for legal reasons. He is currently in custody and is being questioned about the alleged assault which is said to have taken place towards the end of June.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed in a statement: “On July 4, allegations of rape against a woman in her 20s were reported to the police.
“The alleged rape is said to have occurred in June 2022. “On July 4, a 29-year-old man was arrested at an address in Barnet on suspicion of rape and detained, where he lives. “The investigation into the circumstances continues.”
The Premier League team will travel overseas for a pre-season tour in the coming days but it is unclear if the player will make the trip.
