Sexual dysfunctions are increasingly a global phenomenon and problem. Most common sexual dysfunctions among couples are categorized below;
1. Sexual desire disorders
a. Hypoactive sexual desire; sexual desire is absent or very minimal partly due to hormonal or metabolic alterations, medicine, emotional instability or depression.
b. Sexual Aversion; This is a situation where one loses the desire for sex completely due to traumatic past experiences like childhood sexual abuse or purity upbringing; anxiety, fear regarding sex, etc.
2. Sexual arousal disorders
a. Female arousal; it generally about the difficulty in achieving or sustaining vaginal lubrication. Vaginal lubrication comes when there is sexual arousal. The absence of lubrication generally leads to pain during sexual intercourse. Again, it is partly due to the psycho-emotional problem.
b. Male erectile disorder; it generally about the difficulty in achieving or sustaining a penial erection until the end of sex. This is a recipe for frustration on the part of the woman as she may not have achieved her orgasm or satisfied at all. This means the satisfaction is cut short in the middle of the road. It is also attributed to anxiety or failure in the man. This may be due to psychological make-up.
3. Orgasmic disorders
a. Female orgasmic disorder; the woman normally goes through the arousal phase of sex but does not achieve orgasm or it is gravely delayed. This may be due to a medical condition.
b. Male orgasmic disorder; the woman normally goes through the arousal phase of sex but does not achieve orgasm or it is gravely delayed. This may be due to a medical condition.
c. Premature ejaculation; this is a situation where the man ejaculates too fast either before or immediately after penetration. This may be due to a medical condition or the man drinking too much ice water. Again, lack or inadequate exercise could result in premature ejaculation
