The Federal Ministry of Health, Nigeria has confirmed the country’s first case of the coronavirus in the Lagos State.
This makes Nigeria the third African country to confirm the virus after Algeria and Egypt.
Taken to twitter, the Federal Ministry of Health reported that the case was recorded on 2nd February 2020 in Lagos.

Nigeria together with some 12 other African countries was identified to be at high risk of contracting the virus due to high tides with China.
The other 12 includes Kenya, Ghana, Ethiopia, Angola, Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mauritius, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia
Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, also called the COVID-19, in China’s Wuhan city, has spread to over 40 countries worldwide with more than 83,000 confirmed cases and more than 2800 lives lost.
