The advent of new black stars coach Otto-Addo led the team to qualify to FIFA World in Qatar slated for November, 2022. However, the national team is also playing AFCON qualifiers. Black Stars also featured mostly foreign based players in the recent matches.

Yesterday the host of ‘Fire for Fire’ ‘countryman Songo’ fires the head coach of Black Stars Otto-Addo for not featuring talented local players who can equally do the job. He thinks that there is so much over-reliance on international players. The senior National team suffered a 4-1 defeat recently to Japan in a four nation tournament in Japan when most of the international players had left to their respective clubs and partly due to COVID-19 infections. If the coach had considered the good and talented local players he could have featured them and the result could have been different when Black Stars played Japan.
